Legal aid debate in parliament 27 June

24 Jun 2013 The Government has new plans to cut legal aid that will affect all ASSIST clients. Parliament will debate the proposals on Thursday 27 June. It may be the only chance for a proper discussion of the Government’s radical plans. Can you ask your MP to attend? The proposals will bring in huge changes to criminal legal aid, including removing the right to choose your own solicitor to help you in a criminal case.

FURD conference 20 June

13 Jun 2013 Football? A shared sense of belonging? On Thursday, 20th June, FURD is hosting a FREE conference to mark the conclusion of their three year Big Lottery funded research project, ‘Football: A Shared Sense of Belonging?’ about the role of football in the lives of refugees and asylum seekers. The findings from the research will be outlined and supporting presentations will be provided by a panel of experts in the field. We will highlight examples of good practice and discuss barriers to working with new arrivals.
