Refugee Week is a UK-wide programme of arts, educational cultural activities that celebrates the contribution of refugees to the UK and promotes better understanding of why people seek sanctuary. We have had lots of enquiries about how Sheffield people can help with the current Syrian refugee crisis or support those Syrian refugees who arrive in our city as a result of the crisis.. The few families who arrive in Sheffield from the refugee camps on the Syrian border will be supported and accommodated through the joint Sheffield City Council / Refugee Council Gateway Protection Programme, and will not require hosting via ASSIST.

The ASSIST AGM was held on Tuesday 27 October at Moor Theatre Delicatessen. We had a very enjoyable evening looking back at the past year with our supporters, ASSIST in the wider world and our plans for the future.
