Auction Of Promises 2018 - What can you donate?

This could be anything from: Painting, decorating, gardening A music, art or language lesson Baked homemade goods Use of a holiday home Dog walking The list is endless. Everyone has something they can donate so we would love to hear from you.

ASSIST Summer Fundraiser

13 Apr 2018 Join us for our major fundraising and social event of the year. Our Summer Fundraiser 2018 will feature: A hot buffet (catered by The Real Junk Food Project). A bar selling beer, wine and soft drinks. Veggie and vegan options. An opportunity to bid in our Auction of Promises 2018. Lots of fun, music and games! A chance to meet other ASSIST supporters and to find out more about ASSIST’s work.

The Home Affairs Select Committee report 'Immigration policy: basis for building consensus'

25 Jan 2018 The Home Affairs Select Committee has published its report on building consensus on immigration policy. ASSIST made a written submission, together with South Yorkshire Refugee Law and Justice, about the damage done by the hostile environment policy, which affects all the people we support. We argued that the effect is also wider, and damages our whole society.

ASSIST invited to partner a performance of The Transports

14 Jan 2018 The Winding Wheel Theatre, Chesterfield on Saturday 20 January 2018. The Transports is a tale of exile and migration.This re-working of Peter Bellamy’s 1977 folk ballads features a new generation of folk musicians, including The Young’uns, Faustus, Nancy Kerr, Rachael McShane, Greg Russell and Matthew Crampton. It is a highly acclaimed production that received a 5 star review in The Guardian and has prompted standing ovations around the country.

Tournament success for ASSIST team

25 Oct 2017 A team representing ASSIST Sheffield were victorious in a 5-a-side tournament at the U-Mix Centre on Saturday 14th October. The tournament was organised by Mount Pleasant Park Football Club to raise money for the renters’ union Acorn. The ASSIST team beat The Squids 1-0 in the final. Coordinator and ASSIST volunteer Victor Mujakachi said, “It was a brilliant day last Saturday, and our group did us really proud by winning the cup.”

3 Oct 2017 Our clients tell us that giving them a place to stay is the most important service ASSIST can provide for them. The security of knowing they will have somewhere to stay is the biggest relief of all, giving them the stability they need to move forward with their asylum case. We are looking for… Anyone who would be willing to lend their spare room to an asylum seeker…
