A new Home Office rule, coming into force on March 30th, will force asylum seekers to travel to Liverpool if they want to submit new evidence for their case. What’s more, there won’t be any help for those who can’t afford the journey.
Please do take the time to sign the petition which can be accessed via the Refugee Action website
Here’s a note from a worker at www.asaproject.org.uk.
Further to my earlier email about the Home Office’s new system for submitting further representations in Liverpool, I am sad to confirm that this process, which has been on hold since January, will be implemented from 30 March 2015. From that date it will be mandatory for all refused asylum seekers to submit further representations in person at the FSU in Liverpool. This requirement applies regardless of when they originally applied for asylum. An appointment system will be in operation and travel expenses will not be provided by the Home Office.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
