ASSIST Sheffield

Challenging asylum destitution

Congratulations to members of ASSIST's Interpreting team!

Two members of ASSIST’s Interpreting Team have gained NVQ Level 1 qualifications in Understanding Community Interpreting, and are now studying for Level 2 with WEA Sheffield.

The team leader, an asylum seeker himself, strongly encourages members of the team to sign up for the course.

There is a dire shortage of interpreters in the UK law courts, and interpreting with ASSIST provides valuable experience for volunteers who aim to work as professional interpreters in due course.
